“Please milady! You must wear your school uniform!” the maids urged their young mistress one morning.
“How bout . . . . no!”
“Oh please milady, your mother is at the end of her rope, she’ll surely be very angry with you!”
“I don’t care about that old hag! And she’s not my mother.” The maids deeply sighed, “But, we care for what happens to you . . . .” (y/n)’s glare softened, “Uh, fine, but I’m only wearing it because you care, not because I want to.” The maids had smiles on their faces.
“Oh thank you milady! Breakfast is ready, come down when you’re dressed,” and they left the room, knowing that (y/n) preferred to dress herself. (y/n) almost cringed at the sight of the yellow school uniform sitting on her bed, it also came with a red ribbon that went in front of her neck, white stockings, and black doll shoes.
“I can’t believe I’m going to wear this.”
(y/n) (l/n) is the daughter of the president of a huge china manufacturing company. Even though she was brought up to be a lady, she was far from it. She dressed like a commoner, played pranks on people, and was quite the rebel. Things weren’t always like this though, there was a time when she was the perfect child, always behaving and very polite, but then came the death of her mother and her father remarrying to a woman who could care less about her. What was worse then that, her father began to grow distant from her, giving most of his attention to his wife.
(y/n) looked at herself in the mirror when she was done dressing into the school uniform. It has been a month since school started and this will be the first time she’ll be wearing it.
“Hikaru and Kaoru better not say anything about this, otherwise I’m going to rip them both a new one,” she grumbled under her breath. She was good friends with the “devil twins” at Ouran High, being quite the troublemaker herself and all. They would often team up to pull pranks on Tamaki, their best one yet was when they took Nekozawa-sempai’s little puppet and placed it in Tamaki’s way so that he ended up stepping on it. The result was priceless, he actually thought he was cursed! (y/n) giggled to herself, remembering the look on Tamaki’s face.
“Sure wish I had a camera to capture his expression, I don’t think we’ll ever see anything like that ever again.” She looked at the clock and saw that she had to get going. Walking down the stairs, she unfortunately ran into her stepmother.
“Oh. My, are you really (y/n)?”
“Why would you be asking that?”
“You’re actually wearing the uniform. Finally decided to obey me?”
“Oh piss off you hag! I’m not wearing this because you say so!”
“Oh such language! Am I going to have to wash your mouth with soap again?” (y/n) bit her tongue to keep from saying anything crude back, twice her stepmother actually went through with the washing her mouth with soap threat, and she didn’t want to go through with it again. Her stepmother smirked, “That’s what I thought.” (y/n) glared darkly at her.
“If you’ll excuse me, I need to hurry or I’ll be late.”
“Tch, your father is wasting money sending you to that elaborate school, you’re better off in a commoner school.” (y/n) rushed down that stairs before she made a smart remark back.
“(y/n)? You’re wearing a dress!?”
“One more word, and you’ll be sorry!”
“Hahaha! Ok ok!” (y/n) took her seat as the twins walked up to her desk.
“So what happened?” Hikaru asked.
“Yeah, did the old lady finally get to you?”
“No, my maids are worried what would happen if I kept this up, so I did it for them.” The brothers smiled, knowing that (y/n) was very kind to her servants, unlike most rich people who would see them as lesser beings.
“Heh, you’re a good girl (y/n),” Hikaru said, patting her on the head.
“Hey, you coming to the Host Club later?” Kaoru asked, a devilish smirk on his face. That was a sign to (y/n) that they were up to something again.
“Hm, maybe, why?”
“This is why,” Hikaru revealed something in his school bag that made (y/n) smile evilly.
“What’s the plan!?”
“My, this is a surprise. You don’t usually request me,” Tamaki said, pouring (y/n) and him a cup of tea.
“Oh, it never hurts to try something new once in a while, does it?” (y/n) asked in a sweet voice.
“Heh, you’re right there princess. I must say,” he leaned in close to (y/n)’s face, “you look vibrant in the school’s uniform.”
“Oh Tamaki . . . .”
'Hikaru! Kaoru! Hurry up!! If I have to spend another minute with this fool, I’m going to loose it!!'
She peaked around Tamaki with the corner of her eyes and saw the twins appearing from the side of the couch. Hikaru started to unscrew the lid of the hot sauce while Kaoru kept watch on Tamaki who was preoccupied with (y/n).
“Oh? What’s wrong my dear? You seem a little distracted.” Tamaki began to turn his head, but (y/n) acted before thinking and took his face into her hands and forced him to look at her.
“No! I-I-I mean. . . . . Uhh . . . . I . . . I . . .”
'Crap! I wont be able to get out of this one!! Come on you clones! Hurry!!'
“You what princess?” Tamaki asked with a smile, clearly enjoying this new (y/n).
“I . . . . I just . . .” She peaked again and saw Hikaru pouring a generous amount of hot sauce into Tamaki’s cup, then gave her a thumbs up and retreated with his brother.
“I . . . was just admiring the china you have today,” (y/n) lied, letting go of Tamaki’s face and picking up her cup, “it’s such a lovely color,” she took a delicate slip of the sweet tea while gazing sweetly at Tamaki.
“Ah yes, we decided to switch out the old tea set with something a little more colorful. It’s like you said, it never hurts to try something new right?” Tamaki picked up his cup and gave (y/n) a wink before sipping his drink with his eyes closed. A second later, they popped right open. Out of instinct, he turned his head to the side away from (y/n) and spit out.
“GAH!! HOT! HOT!!” he cried, fanning his tongue.
“. . . . . Tamaki . . . .” a cold voice said. Tamaki paused, forgetting about the searing pain in his tongue for the moment.
'Ugh . . . don’t tell me . . .'
He slowly turned his head to the side, there was Kyoya, his uniform stained with the tea Tamaki spit out. His black notebook was opened, thus the pages were soaked with tea as well. (y/n) used all her willpower to keep from laughing out loud.
'I think this is better then the time he thought he was cursed!'
“Uhhh . . . . . Kyoya . . . are you . . ok?” Kyoya shut his notebook, his expression couldn’t really be determined thanks to his glasses that hid it.
“. . . . . . Tamaki . . . . .” he flashed a cold smile, “mind if I talked with you for a minute?”
'. . . . . Goodbye beautiful world . . . .'
“Hahahahaha!! Oh man, that worked out better then I thought!”
“And that spitting the tea over Kyoya was a total bonus!!”
“Oh boy, I don’t think we’ll be able to top that!” The trio of friends laughed out loud in the empty abandoned music room. Thanks to their little prank, the Host Club closed early for the day. After they finally caught their breath after laughing so much, (y/n) brought up a question.
“Hey, where’s Takashi and Hunni-sempai?”
“Oh, Takashi was excused for a kendo tournament and Hunni-sempai is sick with the cold.”
“I see,” (y/n) said, a hint of a sad tone in her voice.
“Aww, disappointed that you couldn’t see your dark knight today?” the twins asked. (y/n)’s cheeks flushed a delicate pink.
“Hey! No! It’s nothing like that!”
“Yeah yeah, we believe you,” but the tone the twins had showed they didn’t have an ounce of belief. And that didn’t go unnoticed by (y/n).
“Ugh, come on guys, we’re just friends!”
“Heh, but you wish to be more, right?” Hikaru asked.
“Uhh . . . . . . maybe . . . . but he wouldn’t want me!”
“Well, you never know until you try, what do you have to loose?” Kaoru said.
“I don’t know guys, he doesn’t seem like the type who would be interested in a girl like me.”
“Hm, well if you keep this up (y/n), you’re never gonna find out.”
The next day, Hikaru and Kaoru couldn’t help but to notice (y/n) wasn’t her usual self. When she took her seat, she faceplanted onto her desk and didn’t even look up when they called her name. In between classes, she didn’t agree to any of the pranks they had planned. And when she did talk to them, she avoided eye contact and smiled a fake smile.
At lunch, the twins knew they had to get to the bottom of (y/n)’s strange behavior. When they didn’t find her in the cafeteria, they went to her favorite place in the whole school: the garden. Sure enough, there she was, gazing at a patch of (favorite flower).
“(y/n)!” they called out to her. She did’t respond, just kept staring at the (favorite flower). The twins officially had enough of her strange behavior, they walked up to her and hoisted her up to her feet.
“Ok (y/n), enough is enough, what’s wrong?” Hikaru said sternly.
“Yeah, you’ve been acting weird all morning, did something happen?” Kaoru asked. Tears began to flow from (y/n)’s eyes. The brothers stared, (y/n) almost never cried, so if she was crying, then something really bad must’ve happened. They released her, now knowing they needed to be careful with their words, Kaoru asked, “Hey . . . . (y/n) . . what’s wrong?”
“Wait, did you confess to Mori-senpai and he rejected you!?” Hikaru concluded. (y/n) shook her head.
“Eh? Then . . . why are you crying?” Silence hung in the air for a good minute, until (y/n) finally spoke, “Last night . . . . when I was bidding my dad goodnight, he said he and my step-mom needed to talk to me about something . . . .”
Flashback. . . . .
(y/n) walked halfway down the stairs in her nightgown, looked down at her father who was with her step-mother and called out,
“Goodnight dad!” As soon as the words left her mouth, she started upstairs.
“(y/n)! Wait! Come down dear!” her father called to her. (y/n) stopped in her tracks, her father never acknowledged her presence when she would say her goodnights, so this really caught her by surprise. She hurried downstairs and plopped down on the couch across from where the couple was sitting. Her father was smiling happily at her, just like he used to when her mother was still alive.
“Yes father?” (y/n) said, trying to remember her manners for her father’s sake.
“(y/n), I have some rather exciting news.”
'You’re gonna dump the hag and we’ll be able to reconnect like a father and daughter should!?' (y/n) wanted to say, but she held it back and asked, “And what would that be father?”
“Well, your mother and I were talking, and she came up with a rather interesting thought: we wont be around forever to help you through life, so we’ve decided, to make sure you have the best in life, to betroth you to the son of an old friend of mine.” The color on (y/n)’s face drained, she wasn’t expecting anything like this at all.
“What!?” she shouted, standing up form the couch.
“It’s already decided (y/n),” her step-mother said, “you’ll be going to his home to live with him and get acquainted before the wedding in a few short years. He’s filthy rich and you’ll live quite comfortably for the rest of your life. You’ll never have to go back to that school again.” Even though she was smiling sweetly, (y/n) saw the evil look in her step-mother’s eyes. (y/n) loved attending Ouran Academy and she knew her step-mother knew that.
'She thought this up to get rid of me sooner and ruin my life!!'
“B-b-but dad! I don’t want to be married to someone I don’t know!!”
“Hush now, you’ll be living with him, so you’ll know everything about him by the time of the wedding.”
“You’ve got to be f*cking kidding me!!”
“(y/n)! Language!” her step-mother scolded.
“No!” (y/n) yelled, her hands balling up into fists, “I will not leave my school and friends to be married off to some stupid, stuck up rich-boy! I wont go through with this! You can’t make me!” She stormed upstairs.
“(y/n)! Come back this instant! We’ve already sent the message to (r/b/n)’s family! You can’t just walk away from this!”
“Watch me!” With that, she slammed the door of her room and threw herself onto her bed, crying herself to sleep.
End of flashback . . . .
“So you’re gonna live with some guy you don’t know until the date of the wedding?” the twins asked at the same time. (y/n) could only nod.
“When will you be leaving?” Hikaru asked.
“Tomorrow’s your last day here!?” Kaoru asked. (y/n) shook her head, “I’ll be spending all of tomorrow preparing, I’m gonna miss you guys very much.” More tears flowed from her eyes. Hikaru and Kaoru looked at eachother for a moment with worried looks, then they smiled small and enveloped (y/n) in a hug.
“Don’t worry (y/n), we’ll help you out,” they said.
“How? I know you guys are cunning, but this is a whole different story.”
“Heh, you doubt our abilities?” Hikaru asked with his usual silly smile.
“Have a little faith, you’ll see,” Kaoru said, giving (y/n) a little peck on the cheek. She smiled through her tears, “Ok, but I’m not getting my hopes high.”
“Mori-senpai!” the twins called out to the rather tall male down the halls. Takashi stopped walking and looked back, his face completely stoic.
“We need an answer to a question,” Hikaru said.
“And we need your full and honest answer,” Kaoru said.
“What?” Takashi asked.
“Do you like (y/n)?” the brothers asked at the same time. As soon as the question was asked, Takashi turned his head, “As a friend.”
“Oh? Just as a friend?”
“Hm, so then it wouldn’t bother you that her parents are engaging her off to some guy she doesn’t know?” Takashi’s head suddenly turned back, a shocked expression on his usually neutral face.
“Yeah, this weekend she’ll be sent to live with him until the wedding day.”
“But you really shouldn’t be troubled by this piece of news, after all, you guys are just friends, right?” Takashi didn’t answer, just walked down the hall briskly. The twins smirked at eachother.
“And thus, our plan has been set in motion.”
The brothers walked down the hallway, arm in arm.
“Do you really think this’ll help (y/n)?” Kaoru asked, slightly doubtful that things will work out they way they hope it will. Hikaru sighed deeply.
“We can only hope Kaoru.”
“For (y/n)’s sake, I really do hope this works.”
“Me too Kaoru, me too.”
Takashi ran through the halls, earning himself some weird looks, but he didn’t care, all he cared about was getting to (y/n) before she went home. He ran and ran, but he couldn’t find her. He knew that time was running out, and that if he wasn’t fast enough, he’d probably never see (y/n) again. Truth be told, he did harbor feeling for the girl. The way she always stood up for herself, how strong she was after her mother’s death and her father remarrying, how she took all of her step-mother’s harsh words and didn’t even bat an eye at them. To sum it up: he was in love with her. And the thought of her marrying someone else tore him up inside.
He ran out of the school, and to his relief, there was (y/n), standing before the car that was there to pick her up. Knowing that he wouldn’t reach her before she would drive off, Takashi shouted, “(y/n)!!” She stopped and turned her head, her eyes widened at the tall boy who was running up to her.
“T-Takashi!?” she said, her cheeks turning a faint pink. He ran up to her and took a moment to catch his breath.
“I . . . h-h-heard . . . . f-from Hi-. . . .Hikaru and Ka-Kaoru . . . . .that you’re . . . . l-l-leaving . . . .”
'Those bloody twins! What are they thinking!? Telling Takashi this!'
“Is it . . . . true?” (y/n) knew that hiding the truth was useless at this point, the twin’s big mouths saw to that.
“Yes . . . . I’m sorry, I wish there was some way for me to get out of this, but this matter is beyond my control,” as she spoke, a few tears escaped her eyes,
“I . . . . . I’m really gonna miss you . . . . Takashi . . . .” He couldn’t take it anymore, Takashi reached out and pulled (y/n) in a tight hug. The hug caught (y/n) completely by surprise.
“T-Takashi!?” He didn’t answer, just hugged her tighter. (y/n) soon relaxed and reveled the feeling of being in his strong arms, she wanted this moment to last forever. She’d happily give up her life as a rich man’s daughter just for this moment to last, but sadly reality doesn’t work that way. Takashi released the hug, but held (y/n) by her shoulders.
“(y/n), come home with me.”
“Please.” (y/n) looked into Takashi’s eyes, they were filled with longing, something she’s never seen before. She looked nervously over to her driver. He simply smiled and nodded. She smiled back and mouthed a “thank you” to him. He drove off and (y/n) looked back at Takashi, a shy smile on her face, “Ok.” A small grin was on his face.
“Wait here please,” Takashi said, and he closed the door to his room. (y/n) sat on his bed nervously, twiddling her fingers and playing with the skirt of her school uniform. When Takashi took her home with him, some of the maids whispered and giggled with one another.
What’s up with that? she wondered. Her thoughts were interrupted when someone knocked on the door.
“Oh! Uh, come in!” One of the whispering maids entered.
“Please excuse the intrusion miss,” she said, closing the door behind her and curtseying.
“No, it’s no problem.” The maid took a look at her and had a silly smile on her face, “So you’re (y/n), you’re much prettier then Master Takashi described.” That really caught (y/n) off guard.
“Oh, at times, when mater Takashi would speak, he would mention a lovely girl by the name of (y/n), how strong, smart, and beautiful she was.”
“Takashi . . . . talks about me?” (y/n) said, looking down at her hands to hide her growing blush. The maid giggled, “There’s no need to be shy, it’s clear that the mater has feelings for you.”
'Is this why he was acting the way he was earlier? Takashi . . . . .'
(y/n) smiled at the thought of her long time love talking about her.
“Thank you for telling me this.”
“It’s not a problem miss,” the maid said with a curtsey. The door opened and there was Takashi.
“Oh, this is my cue to leave. Please excuse me,” the maid left the room after one more curtsey. The silence in the room was almost deafening, surprisingly Takashi broke it.
“Tomorrow, I’m going to talk to your father about the marriage.”
“I’ll make sure you don’t have to go through with this.”
“Wh-why?” Takashi walked over to the bed and stood in front of (y/n), since he was so much taller, he leaned in close to her face, “Because . . . . I don’t want to loose the most important person in my life.” Now (y/n) invented new shades of red as Takashi spoke, and even he was becoming red in the face.
“I’m . . . . . that important to you?” He nodded. Tears sprung in (y/n)’s eyes, only unlike earlier that day, they were tears of happiness.
“Y-You’re important to me too, Takashi.”
“(y/n) . . . .” He lifted her face up with a finger and leaned in all the way, pressing his lips against hers. (y/n) eyes widened. The kiss was strong, yet gentle at the same time, much like Takashi was.
'Am I dreaming!?' She wrapped her arms around Takashi’s neck and kissed him back, 'Oh, if I am, no one better dare wake me up!'
Takashi’s tongue shyly grazed itself across (y/n)’s lips, politely asking for entrance. She obliged and allowed him to explore every inch of her mouth, playfully wrestling his tongue with her own. The two separated for a moment to catch their breaths.
“(y/n) . . . . . I love you so much,” Takeshi said, staring into (y/n)’s eyes, his own filled with love. (y/n)’s heart beat a mile a minute. Never in her life would she imagine Takashi telling her those words with his deep voice that she loved so much.
“I . . . . love you too, Takashi.” They shared another passionate kiss, until Takashi startled (y/n) a bit by suddenly pinning her to the bed.
“I’m sorry (y/n), but,” he hid his face in the nape of her neck, “I can’t hold back any longer.”
(y/n) let out a little squeak when she felt Takashi’s teeth gently nip the side of her neck. She never thought Takashi could act this way, not that she was complaining of course. He ran his tongue over the appearing purple bruise before placing a sweet kiss on it.
“(y/n) . . . .” he caressed her cheek with the back of his hand, “you’re so beautiful.” (y/n) felt as if her heart was gonna beat out of her chest if Takashi kept talking like that. He pressed his lips against hers again, but his time he was a little more rough and needy.
“I . . . .” she felt his hand push the skirt of her dress up, revealing her stocking clad legs, “really can’t . . . . hold back any longer.” (y/n) blushed madly, Takashi wasn’t really the type of guy to let loose like this and let desires take him over. But she smiled sweetly at him and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“Takashi . . . . I need you.”
Takashi woke up the next morning feeling something warm against his chest. He looked down to see (y/n). Last night’s events came back to him and he smiled, kissing her on the forehead. She stirred in her sleep before opening one lazy eye. She looked up to be face-to-face with Takashi. She smiled and said, “Good morning.”
“Morning.” Takashi sat up and stretched his limbs.
“(y/n), we need to go talk with your parents.” (y/n) pulled the blanket over her head, “I don’t think I can face them now since I didn’t come home after school yesterday.” Takashi sighed deeply and tugged the blanket off of (y/n)’s form.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be with you,” he said with a reassuring grin. (y/n) smiled through her blush.
“Young lady! Where have you been!?” (y/n)’s stepmother yelled once (y/n) and Takashi walked through the door. (y/n) ignored her question and asked, “Where’s my father?”
“He went out looking for you. But now that you’re here, begin packing, you’re leaving to your fiancé’s house tomorrow.”
“What!?” Takashi wrapped an arm around (y/n)’s waist and pulled her close to him.
“I’m marrying her,” he said. Even though (y/n) knew he would say that, she couldn’t help but to flush red at the statement.
“Th-that’s right,” she turned and embraced Takashi while still looking at her step-mother, “this is the man I wish to marry.” Her step-mother was getting angry with every word and action the two teenagers were doing and saying. She shook her head.
“No! You will not marry someone whom we don’t know! You’re marrying (r/b/n) and that’s that!” She began to walk towards the couple to tear (y/n) away, but Takashi’s grip tightened and he glared down at her.
“Don’t touch my fiancé,” he said in a scary voice. (y/n)’s step-mother flinched, but held her ground.
“She’s not yours! And get out of my house! You’re not welcomed here!”
“He is very much welcomed here!” (y/n) shouted, she released her hold on Takashi and walked up to her step-mother to talk into her face, “now listen here you old hag! My father wants me to marry to make sure my future is secure, nothing else, so it shouldn’t be a problem if I marry someone I love!” Her step-mother snapped, revealing her true self.
“It is a problem for me you brat!”
“So you meant to do this to make my life miserable, didn’t you?”
“So what if I did!? Everyone knows that a rebel like you will never amount to anything!”
“Says the lady who married my father just for his money!”
“Tch, well too bad for you, he’s head-over-heels for me, and he’ll always do what I say. He’s a pathetic man really.” Now it was (y/n)’s turn to snap. She reached out and grabbed her step-mother by the collar of her dress.
“You can say what you want about me, but never insult the ones I love!”
“Let go you worthless brat!” Her step-mother shook her off and slapped her hard across the cheek, sending (y/n) to the floor. She braced for impact, but found herself in the arms of Takashi. His lightning fast reflexes allowed him to catch her before she hit the marble floor.
“(y/n)!” he cried.
“It’s ok Takashi . . . . I’m fine.” Tears flooded her eyes, but (y/n) refused to show weakness in front of her step-mother. Takashi knew (y/n) had been weakened from taking all those insults and learning the truth, so he spoke up.
“If you truly want her out, she’ll come and live with me. And once we finish school, we’ll marry. Someone like you doesn’t deserve to have someone like her as a daughter.”
“Who are you to tell me what I can and can’t have boy!? In case you haven’t noticed, I’m the wife of the president on one of the biggest china manufacturing companies. I can have whatever I want!”
“No you can’t,” a new voice said. Everyone’s head turned to the door of the living room. It was (y/n)’s father. Her step-mother paled at the sight of him.
“(dad’s name)! H-how long have you been there?”
“Long enough to see your true colors. I want you out of this house by tomorrow morning.”
“B-b-but dear! I only-”
“I don’t want to hear it!”
“Silence!” The woman turned away, bawling and running away to hopefully pack her things. When she was gone, (y/n)’s emotions poured out and she buried her face into Takashi’s chest, sobbing and shaking. He held her form close to him, rubbing circles on her back and whispering sweet nothings into her ears.
“Shhh, it’s ok (y/n).”
(d/n) approached the couple.
“(y/n) . . .” she looked up to him with her cheeks stained with her tears, “I’m so terribly sorry for everything I’ve ever done. Could you ever find it in your heart to forgive me?”
(y/n) sprang up form the floor and wrapped her arms around her father.
“Of course father.” He hugged her back.
“Oh thank you my dear, I love you.”
“I love you too father.” After giving them a few moments, Takashi spoke up.
“Sir?” (y/n) father gave him his attention, “if you’ll allow it, I wish to marry your daughter in the future.”
“Young man, I heard everything you said from behind that door, I can tell you two are truly in love, you have my blessings.” Takashi gave him a bow, “Thank you sir, I’ll make sure she’s always happy.”
“I’ll keep you to that son. Now I must go and clear a few things up. Excuse me.” (y/n)’s father left the room. (y/n) leaped into Takashi’s arm.
“It worked out perfectly! Thank you so much Takashi!”
“You should be thanking Hikaru and Kaoru, they’re the ones who told me about this.”
“Heh, guess I should, shouldn’t I? Should we make them both the best men?”
“Why not?” Takashi and (y/n) shared a deep kiss, knowing that no power in this world could ever separate them.
~Sometimes the bad things that happen in our lives put us directly on the path to the best things that will ever happen~
