It was just another bright, beautiful day for (y/n) (l/n). She was currently walking the streets of a small town in Midorijima Island. Dressed in her (favorite color) dress, she’d closed her little clinic early to buy some supplies she was currently lacking, such as thread, needles, disinfectant, and bandages. Riding on her shoulder was her Allmate, (p/n), who was a lovely, white and blue canary, she was currently reciting the list of items they needed to (y/n) when she asked.

“That’s everything!” (p/n) said after (y/n) had gotten needles.

“Great! This basket is seriously starting to get heavy,” (y/n) said with a small giggle.

(p/n) rolled her eyes, “If only you didn’t procrastinate on buying these items, then maybe you wouldn’t have to buy so much at once.”

After paying for her items, (y/n) walked back the way to her clinic. As she walked, she couldn’t help but to feel like she was being followed.

(p/n), is it them again?” she carefully whispered as she walked through some deserted streets. Her Allmate peaked behind her shoulder, “I’m afraid it is,” she quietly answered.

“Tch, how many time will I have to turn him dow before that idiot gets the message?”

She began to run, that when she really heard the footsteps behind her quicken their own pace. After a bunch of random turns in an attempt to loose them, she found herself in a dead end alleyway.

“Uh-oh.”

It was already too late for her to turn around and try a different direction, so (p/n) flew up from her shoulder, “I’ll go find help!! Please hang in there!”
“Y-yeah, please hurry.”

Her bird nodded and quickly flew away, hoping to find help in time.

~0~

She flew high, her head darting back and fort looking for someone she believes could help her master. After about only a minute, she spotted a group of men dressed in kimono’s walking together. They were about to walk away form the direction of where (y/n) was when they saw a canary fly to them. She got in front of the one with the bright, red kimono who he himself has a bird Allmate of his own riding on his shoulder. He flinched a bit surprise form her sudden appearance and couldn’t understand her when she began to babble, clearly panicked over something.

“Whoa whoa! Slow down there,” he said, trying to get her to calm down so he could know what the problem was.

“My owner!! Alley! Thugs! Save her!!” was all she could get out in her panicked state. But that was enough for the man to piece everything together and figure out there might be someone in trouble.

“Please follow me!!” she flew towards the direction of her owner. The man stood there for a while, then turned to his men and ordered them to follow the bird.

~0~

“Come on sweetheart, you know you can’t avoid this forever, and the boss is getting tired of waiting. Just agree to it or,” one of the goons held up the chain he was holding, “we’ll just have to mess up that pretty face of yours.”

(y/n) backed up, pressing her back against the wall, trying to keep as much distance as she could from the thugs. As they got closer, a new voiced entered, “HEY! What’s going on here!?”

Everyone looked to the entrance of the alley to see a men with a beautiful, red kimono standing there with a bunch of other men in kimonos, riding on his shoulder was (p/n), looking very tired.
(p/n)!” (y/n) exclaimed. The little bird flew over the crowd and back to her owner’s shoulders, “I got help!” she explained.

“I highly suggest you step away from the lady,” the man in the red kimono ordered, “or else.”

“Huh? Or else what? You don’t scare us! Get them!” and a fight started. (y/n) watched worriedly as the thugs and the new comers fought, but there was a clear difference in their fighting style. The men in kimonos clearly had a cleaner and more technical way of fighting, while the thugs just attacked blindly with their fists and weapons. Her attention then went towards the apparent leader, the man in red, and watched him fight very valiantly. Seeing that they were destined to loose, the leader of the other group pulled a hidden blade out and stabbed at the man in red, getting him on the side of his waist. (y/n) gasped loudly and quickly went into action herself, while the thug leader revealed in his mini victory, (y/n) grabbed an empt sake bottle that had been discarded in the alley and clocked him over the head, shattering the bottle and knocking him unconscious. Now that their leader was down, the gang turned tail and ran out of there with the kimono clad men right at their heels. (y/n) knelt down to the injured leader, “Are you ok!? she asked.

“Y-yeah, d-don’t worry about me,” he huskily said, trying to keep his voice straight.

“No! A wound like that can become critical if not treated immediately,” she slung his arm over her shoulders and hoisted him up after picking up her basket, “My clinic isn’t too far from here, come on.”

Supporting him with her body, she led him back to her little clinic. There, she settled him into one of the beds and disrobed his upper clothes, fighting back a blush when she saw how ripped his chest and abs were, she could swear there wasn’t a single muscle that wasn’t toned. After giving him a herbal concoction to help dull the pain, she dabbed the wound with disinfectant, with nimble fingers, she sewed up the wound and wrapped it to keep it clean. By now the man’s body language seemed more relaxed now that his wound has been treated. He looked at her and gave her a warm smile to which she lost control over her blush, thus making her entire face go red.

“U-uhh, s-so who are you?” (y/n) asked, trying to keep this situation from going
awkward.

“Koujaku, you?”

“I-I’m (y/n). And thank you so much for saving me.”

“Heh heh, it was nothing really. It’s a man’s duty to save lovely ladies in distress, such as yourself,” he said with a wink.

“U-u-u-uh, w-well . .  . I wouldn’t go that far,” she said, looking away and nervously playing with a lock of her hair. From the side table, Koujaku’s red bird spoke up, “Smooth old man,” and (p/n), who was standing beside him, giggled. Koujaku lightly blushed from embarrassment.

“Anyway,” his bird continued, “she saved you, and you know what that means regarding the yakuza code.”

“Yes Beni, I know.” Koujaku said.

Both (y/n) and (p/n) gave them confused looks, “yakuza code? W-wait! You’re from a Yakuza?”

Koujaku thought the stutter in (y/n)’s voice was from freight, after all, there aren’t many yakuzas that actually follow the unwritten code, so he added, “Don’t worry, my group are nothing like those hooligans you see causing trouble in the streets. We genuinely stand by the code, no matter what.”

“Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to sound scared. Surprised is more like it. It’s like you said, you don’t see many yakuzas actually following the rule. If anything, it settled my heart that there are honorable men like you and your group.

“O-oh, well, thank you,” Koujaku said, his pink cheeks turning red.

“Anytime. Anyway, the medicine’s drowsy side-effect should be active by now, just relax and rest for now, you deserve it.”

Koujaku wanted to explain a few things to her, but his eyelids began to drip against his will and his mind drifted off into dreamland faster then a snap of the fingers. (y/n) draped the blanket over his sleeping form, she brushed some of his bangs away from his face, “Sleep tight,” she whispered. Looking to the side table, she saw both birds huddled close and already in snooze land. She let out a giggle and decided not to disturb them, then left the room, turning the light off.

~0~

Next morning . . . . . .

(y/n) woke up bright and early the next day. She walked downstairs from her little apartment home to her clinic to have a look at her current patient. To her surprise, both he and his Allmate were gone, only her own bird remained, still sleeping on the side table. There on the pillow was a note addressed to her. She unfolded it and red it out loud, “(y/n), I’m sorry to run off so suddenly like this, but there was an urgent matter at my place. There’s something I really wish to speak to you about, please go the the address provided below when you have time, it doesn’t matter when, my door will always be open to you. I look forward to our next meeting. Koujaku. Hmmm, guess I have plans after work today then.”

~0~

(y/n) locked the doors to her clinic as the evening came.

“Ok (p/n), lead the way.”

She had told (p/n) the address and was now being given directions as she walked from the canary. Eventually, she ended up to what looked like a hair salon.

“Eh? Are you sure this is the right place (p/n)?” (y/n) asked, not sure if this is the kind of place a yakuza would be in.

“Yes, according to my coordinates  I’m very sure.”

“Hm. Interesting.”

She slowly entered the place, shyly peaking her head through the door, seeing that it truly was a hair salon. There in the back was Koujaku, just finishing up a clients hairdo and was in the middle of blowdrying her hair. He quickly finished and took the plastic cape off, “There you are.”

He led his client to the front desk, where she paid for her cut, he handed her the change with a rather flashy smile. She swooned, almost dropping her change, then left with her heart shaped eyes. Watching her leave, she caught sight of (y/n), standing rather awkwardly at the front.

“Ah (y/n)! Glad you could make it!”

“L-likewise,” she scanned the place again, “so this place belongs to you?” she asked.

“My pride and joy!” he said with much enthusiasm. She couldn’t help but to giggle.

“So what did you want to see me about?”

“Oh yes, follow me, the topic will be best discussed in the back.”

(y/n) followed him to the back room, where some of the workers were hanging around, some of whom she recognized as the men that were with Koujaku the other day. He pulled out a chair from a corner.

“Have a seat.”

“Thank you.” She sat down and made herself comfortable. Koujaku grabbed another chair and positioned it across from her, sitting down as well.

“Oi! Ryu!” he called out, one of the men looked up from the little book he was reading, “we have a guest, go fetch us some tea.”

“Heh, you sure about that boss? I mean, you’ve always been more of a sake kind of guy.”

“There’s a lady present! I wouldn’t want to undergo the effects of alcohol while she’s around.”

“Fine, I got it.”

Ryu lazily got up from his chair and walked into a different room, from there (y/n) was able to hear the sound of water being poured. To the side on a small, folded out table, Beni was seen taking a nap. (p/n) made no hesitation to fly quietly and join him in his nap. (y/n) smiled knowingly, watching the two birds sleep together.

“(y/n),” Koujaku said rather seriously, catching her attention, “how familiar are you with the yakuza code?”

“All I really know is that the rules restricts the use or sales of illegal drugs and stealing as well.”

Koujaku nodded from her statement, “There’s also this rule that applies to what you’ve done for me.”

“Oh?”

“If you save the life of some from the yakuza, then that man is in your debt for as long as he lives.”

This was certainly news to (y/n), “R-really?”

“Yes, and I have just the thing in mind, since I’m in debt to you for pretty much forever.”

“And what would that be?”

“W-well . . . I would-”

“Pardon the interruption,” Ryu had returned with a tray holding a tea pot and two small cups, he poured out a cup for (y/n) and left the other for Koujaku to do himself, to which he didn’t do just yet.

“Anyway, I would like for you to be my . . . . . girlfriend.”

(y/n) almost spat out the tea she had taken a sip of. Coughing a bit, then wiping her mouth with the sleeve of her dress, she said, “E-excuse me? D-did you just ask for me to be yours?”

“You heard correctly. We could always start with just getting to know each other better if that would make you more comfortable, I just wish for it to lead up to that.”

(y/n) looked down at her lap to hide her growing blush, “W-well, as nice as that sounds, I’m terribly sorry, but I’m going to have to decline.”

“Huh?”

By now, all the other men in the room had stopped what they were doing to see this play out.

“Don’t get me wrong, you seem like a very nice man, b-but my work keeps me very busy, too busy for relationships. Plus, I’m afraid my timid nature might be a little annoying for anyone,” she quickly stood up, “P-please excuse me, and thank you for the tea.”

She placed her cup on the table, rousing the birds from their sleep, and gently grabbing (p/n), powering walking right out of that room and out of the building. Koujaku stood up to go after her, but thought it would be better to stay put, lest he would probably frighten the poor girl.

“Wow boss, never thought I’d ever see the day where a girl would flat out reject you,” one of his men joked as his comrades agreed. Kojaku sat back down in his seat, “You’re wrong men, this isn’t a rejection, but a challenge!”

They all rolled their eyes, knowing that Koujaku was far too prideful to admit that he’d been rejected.

“Whatever you say boss.”

~0~

Over the course of the week, Koujaku began to make frequent visits to (y/n)’s clinic/home, using every excuse in the book to see and talk with her, from having her treat a minor injury he got during a fight, to bringing her sweets he claimed his customers gave him, when he really bought them himself, and asked if she would like to eat them together. Even with her shyness, (y/n) couldn’t find it in her heart to turn him away anytime he came over and would always invite him in with a cheerful heart. With every passing day, Koujaku found himself falling for her more and more. She was such a kind, gentle, caring human being, it was now official, he truly wanted nothing more but to have her in his arms and call her his.

One say, she’d taken up his offer of a free hair cut. Seated on the chair with the apron around her, her face was a blushing mess as Koujaku’s skillful fingers ran through her (h/c) locks.

“You seem to be having some stress filled days,” Koujaku said, trimming her ends.

“Wh-what? Why would you assume that?”

“I’m not assuming, I know. Your hair says it all.”

“Y-you can tell by the condition of my hair?”

“Yup. There’s barely any shine, it feels quite course, and these split ends are driving me to tears. (y/n) please, if there’s something wrong, I wish to help in any way I can. And before you ask, this has nothing to do with the yakuza code, Over these past days, I’ve grown to know you better and better. You’re an amazing woman and I truly wish to help you, so please tell me, what’s going on?”

(y/n) hung her head, knowing that she was caught in the most interesting way.

“(y/n)?” Koujaku said, halting his snipping.

“. . . . . . please finish, and then could we go somewhere to speak privately?”

Koujaku smiled, knowing he’d finally got her to open up, “Of course,” and he went back to work. Afterwards, he led her back to the break room, her hair now looking much better and even. She sat in silence for a few minutes, collecting her thoughts before speaking, “Koujaku, there’s been big trouble brewing around me, and one of the reasons I turned down your proposal was because I didn’t want to involve you with my problems, but . . . . it’s getting out of hand to the point where I just don’t know what to do anymore,” she took in a deep breath to compose herself and continued, “The men that you encountered the day you saved me are from a yakuza, they’ve been following me constantly. The reason is . . well . . . . their chairman wants me to marry him.”

“What!?” Koujaku exclaimed.

“Yes, we just ran into each other one day when he asked for my hand, of course I’ve refused every advance he’s thrown at me. Then he begins threatening to burn down my clinic if I don’t say yes,” a few tears escaped her eyes, “that clinic also harbors my home, if it’s destroyed, then I have no where to live or and means of income. It’ll be all over for me,” she buried her face in her hands, “I . . . . I just don’t know what to do anymore, if they go through with it, then I’ll be forced into the streets. If I accept, he’ll surely treat me badly, nothing good can come from a man who forces someone to marry him like this.”

Koujaku gritted his teeth together to keep from shouting profounderies. He just couldn’t believe what he was hearing. These so-called yakuzas were more then ready to take away this angel’s future just so their boss could have her hand in marriage.

“Those scum don’t even have the right to call themselves yakuza,” he growled out. He got up from his chair and wrapped his muscular arms around (y/n)’s petite form, earning a squeak of surprise from her. She couldn’t remember the last time someone had hugged her with such tenderness,

“Koujaku?”

“Don’t worry (y/n), I wont let that happen. I’ll make sure they don’t ever bother you again nor tear down that clinic of yours.”

He felt her hug him back as if he himself was her very life line.

“Th-thank you,” she whispered into his chest. They puled away after a while, he softly wiped away her tears with calloused fingers, that was until (y/n) took it in both her small hands.

“Hm?”

“This Saturday,” she said, “they said I had until then to give them one final answer, if I say no, that’s it, my clinic and home are history.”

Koujaku placed his free hand firmly on her shoulder, “That wont happen, not if i have something to say about it.”

~0~

Butterflies fluttered like crazy in (y/n)’s stomach. It was finally the day the thugs would come with their boss to receive her finally answer. Koujaku and his strongest men were currently hidden all about the clinic, ready for the right time to strike. The place was closed for this very occasion, so she was seated at the front desk, trying to get some paperwork done, but her hands wouldn’t stop shaking and her mind was a jumbled mess of thoughts. She almost screamed when a loud knocking was heard at her door. When she didn’t answer, the knocking turned into a pounding.

“Open up!” a voice demanded, “we know you’re in there!”

Her whole body shook as she stood up. That was until a reassuring hand toucher her shoulder. She looked back to stare into the kind face of Koujaku, who was positioned behind a white hospital curtain.

“Don’t worry, me and my men are right behind you you’re not alone.”

She smiled small, “Thank you.”

Putting on a serious face and taking in a deep breath, she answered the door. It was indeed the chairman and at least a dozen of his goons.

“What!?” she asked quite rudely.

The chairman smirked, pulling out the cigar he was smoking from his mouth, holding it between his fingers, “Oh come now doll, you know why I’m here.”

“No, honestly I don’t.”

“Then let me clear it up for you: I came to pick up my lovely bride.”

“I’m afraid you must have the wrong place, I don’t even recall agreeing to being anyone’s bride.”

“Is that really your final answer? You know what's gonna happen to this little place of yours, right?”

“I’ve heard enough!” (y/n) snapped, “We have no further business, leave now!” she tried to slam the door in his face, but one of his men quickly grabbed it and shoved it open, knocking her backwards on her behind.

“Eek!!”

“This is the end of the line for you sweetheart, not only is this place gonna be turned to ash,” he grabbed her arm and yanked her up to her feet, “but I’m still taking you with me.”

“L-let go!!”

He ignored her plea and said to his men, “Burn this place to the ground.”

Koujaku had enough. He stepped forward from his hiding place.

“Sorry! I wont let you!”

His voice being the signal, Koujaku’s men came out from hiding and launched their  attack With the element of surprise on their side, they easily knock out their enemy into next week. After punching out the lights of a goon, Koujaku gave the chairman a deadly glare, if looks could kill, he would’ve been dead a hundred times over.

“Now, get your filthy hands off of her you scum! Or there will be hell to pay!”

Not wanting to admit defeat, the chairman suddenly pull (y/n) close to him and pulled out a knife, holding it close to her throat.

“Try anything, and I’ll slit this lovely little throat of hers!”

Sadly, he was no match for the quick thinking Koujaku, who swept a leg under his enemy’s leg just as he had finished his sentence, knocking him over. He grabbed at (y/n)’s hand before she went down  and gently pulled her to his chest, holding her protectively. The chairman look pitiful on the ground, the knife he tried to use a few feet from his reach.

“Now, I highly doubt scum like you would even know the basic rules of the yakuza, so I’ll refresh your memory on a critical one: by attempting to tear down (y/n)’s clinic and house, you would’ve robbed her of her future, forcing her into marriage also would’ve concluded the same fate, and our code prohibits theft of any kind and is punishable by death,” the chairman was now practically drowning in his own sweat, knowing that pleading for his life would only fall on deaf ears, “however,” Koujaku added, “(y/n)’s business still stands and she remains unmarried, so,” he grabbed at the blade he had strapped to his back, “out of the kindness of my heart, I’ll let you off with this.” With one swift motion, the hands of the chairman laid on the ground, oozing blood. He screamed out in pain and his fallen men watched with horror as their boss thrashed with pain on the floor, Koujaku turned his attention to them, “Grab him and get out! And if I find out you’ve been bothering (y/n) again,” the face of the demon replaced his charming one, “You’ll suffer the same, if not an even worse, fate then him!”

They didn’t need to be told twice, two of them hoisted up their still suffering boss and ran out with the others with their tails between their legs. Koujaku looked down at (y/n), a bit surprised that she didn’t recoil in disgust from the hands still laying on the floor.

“That doesn’t faze you?” he asked.

She just shrugged her shoulders, “Meh, I’ve amputated, preformed c-section, and cut out infected wounds, you’ll have to do better then that to give me a shock.”

He chuckled at her response, “You really are an amazing woman.”

She shyly smiled at him, “Koujaku, thank you so much for this. How could I ever repay you?”

“W-well . . .” Kojaku began to get pink, “Y-you could . . . . well . . . . you know . . .”

“Alright.”

“Huh?”

“I guess I could give ‘us’ a try.”

Koujaku was red up to his ears, “I-I was gonna say a kiss . . . but that can work too.”

Now it was (y/n)’s turn to get all bashful, “O-o-o-oh.”

“Well then,” overcoming his own embarrassment, Koujaku smirked quite sexily, “I’m sure the hero deserves a kiss anyway~.”

“I-I-I guess.”

(y/n) got up on her tiptoes and nervously gave Koujaku a peck on the lips.

“Oh? Was that the best you could do?” he pulled her body closer to him, their chests touching and lips only centimeters away, “I’ll just show you how it’s done,” and he kissed her with such passion and love that (y/n) was worried she might drown in it. But even if she did, she wouldn’t mind much, she wrapped her arms around his neck and brought him closer, much to his delight. Their Allmates were also having a lovely moment of their own at the front desk, cuddling up close to one another. Both had forgotten that his own men were still in the room, they all began to whoop and cheer.

“The old man’s finally getting some!”

“Oi! I’m not that old!!”

(y/n) laughed along with them, knowing that, as long as Koujaku was by her side, she had nothing to fear.
