(A/N: There are extreme spoilers for volume 3 and 4, if you have't watched that already, please do so before reading. If you don't care about that, then continue at your own risk.)

Hunger can drive one to do desperate things in order to satisfy their hurting and growling stomach. That was certainly (y/n)’s case. It has been a week since his last meal, and his belly yearned for some source of nutrition. After scouting around for a chance to snag a way for a meal, he came across a White Fang camp. Usually he would turn tail and not give them a second thought, but earlier he saw a member examining the contents of a suitcase stuffed with Lien. That more than enough to perk (y/n)’s interest, and while he never liked stealing from honest people, he felt no guilt in pilfering from the organization ended his friend’s life and almost his.

He lurked around until night fell and the Faunus turned in either for the night or for a mission. Gathering up his remaining strength, he focused as his form began to change and kept at it until his transformation was complete. It was times like this that he was thankful for his semblance: shape shifting. He disguised himself as a White Fang member, and after strapping his sword onto his back, he quietly slinked into the camp. Using memory to guide him, he walked into one of the bigger tents. There he saw a map hung up and marked, but his real focus were the suitcases in the corner. Knowing that at least one of them held money, he eagerly opened the first one, nothing but a bunch of dust vials and crystals.

“Tch.” He tossed that aside and rummaged through the second case, there he found his loot. Zealously, he began to stuff the money into a sack he’d brought with him for this very reason. He was just tying a knot when he heard someone enter the tent.

“Oi! What are you doing?”

(y/n) spun around to see a White Fang member standing before him.

“Huh? Perry? What are you doing here?”

With this moment of confusion, (y/n) wasted no time to grab at one of the discarded vials on the ground and chuck it at the other Faunus. Out of instinct, the deer Faunus drew his sword and sliced the vial in half, however, in doing so, the contents sprinkled all over onto his face.

“Ah- Ahhhh-.” (y/n) knew things were literally going to go up in smoke, in the blink of an eye, he drew his sword and sliced a new opening in the tent just as the Faunus let out a huge sneeze, engulfing the tent in flames and easily catching the attention of the other Faunus that were asleep in the camp. (y/n) revered back to his original appearance and with all of his remaining strength began to flee. With his sensitive ears, (y/n) could hear pursuers giving chase. Sadly not even his strong will would keep his starving body going. A gunshot ran through the night and (y/n) felt pain explode in one of his legs, making him instantly fall over. He then felt a foot stomp down against the sword on his back, it hurt, but he refused to show weakness.

“Tch, one of us eh?” a rabbit Faunus said. A cat Faunus walked in front of (y/n), “Well, let’s just get this over with, it’s not like he’d of any use to us anyway,” he cocked his gun and aimed at (y/n)’s head, who closed his eyes tightly, accepting his fate.

“Wait!” a new voice said. All action ceased and (y/n) felt himself being yanked up onto his knees. Opening his eyes, he looked up to see a woman standing before him. Her short hair was as black as coal, dangerous eyes that almost glowed yellow, a short, red dress complimented her rather sexy figure and on her feet were black heels with some kind of glass anklet around one of her ankles. It was her beauty that caught him off guard, it the fact that the Faunus were following her orders, he knew that something must’ve happened for the White Fang to submit to a human like this.

“Well now, what do we have here?” she asked in that sensual voice of hers.

“We caught him trying to steal some money,” the rabbit Faunus explained, pointing the sack of loot on the ground next to (y/n), “The one who found him first said that he had somehow made himself look like Perry, so at first he didn’t suspect anything. That was until he saw the bag of money this thug had.”

“Interesting~.” The woman knelt down to (y/n)’s level and grabbed his chin, forcing him to look at her. He only glared silently back at her while she gave him a smirk, “Oh there’s no need to look at me that way.”

“And why shouldn’t I?”

“From what I can see, I did just save you from impending death.”

“Keeping me alive to use me for something I bet.”

“Oh-ho, you’re much smarter then I expected. What’s your name?”

“Like hell I’m gonna tell you! Now let go of my face!” (y/n) tried to bite this woman’s hand, but was stopped when he dug her sharp fingernails into his skin, making him wince.

“I’d watch that mouth of yours if I were you. You’re in no position to be threatening me. I’ll only ask once more: your name?”

“ . . . . (y/n).”

“(y/n) huh? Nice to meet you. I’m Cinder.”

“Like I care.”

“Still filled with so much fight even in these conditions. I actually like it~. And from what I’ve been told, it sounds like you have some kind of shape shifting ability.”

“So? What if I do?”

“It’s something I can definitely use.”

“And what makes you think I’d even let you use my ability for your own cause?”

“I don’t think, I know~.”

Without warning, Cinder leaned her face close to (y/n)’s and kissed him fully on he lips. (y/n)’s eyes widened, but the shock from the unexpected kiss was replaced with the pain from a sensation he felt around his neck. It got worse and worse to the point where (y/n) felt like he would suffocate if it didn’t stop. Eventually it subsided and Cinder pulled away, running her thumb over his lips, “Hmm~. I think I may have enjoyed that a bit more then I thought,” she admitted. She gave the two Faunus a motion with her hand and they dropped (y/n) to the ground, where he coughed out, and left the two.

“What the hell was that for!?” he spat, wiping his lips with his arm.

“Oh, I just used an ancient spell that will make sure that you obey me no matter what~,” she said as if it were the most causal thing on the planet.

“What!?”

“I’d have to say, a collar like that really suites you.”

“Huh?” (y/n) felt around his neck, but could not find any trace of a collar.

“Here, maybe this will help.” Cinder waved her hand and conjured up a large, pointed piece of glass. (y/n) was able to see his reflection on its’ surface, it was there he saw the black indication around his neck that resembled thorny vines.

“What the hell is this!?”

“From now on, your eyes will be my eyes, and your ears my ear. This is a bond between master and servant. And if you event think about going against me, well~” her eyes glowed and the mark on (y/n)’s neck turned red. He felt the same, strangling pain he felt earlier. Squirming on the ground, he clawed at his neck to no avail. Only when Cinder’s eyes stopped glowing could (y/n) breath again, this time he no longer had the energy to glare at her, he only concentrated on taking in deep breaths to regain the oxygen he was denied.

“Now then, what was it you were saying about not wanting anything to do with our cause?”

(y/n) knew he was in no position to argue, but his pride kept him from verbally agreeing with her. Nevertheless, Cinder knew his silence was proof that he’d surrendered himself to this fate. She smirked and comically pets his head, “That’s a good doggie.”

“I’m a wolf!” he corrected sharply.

“Hm, same difference.”

“Tch!”

“Well then, I bet you’re hungry.”

(y/n) was just about to deny it when his stomach gave him away, growling desperately for something to fill it up. His ears flattened against his head in humiliation while Cinder chuckled with amusement, “Get up, we might have something lying around camp.”

On wobbly legs, (y/n) got up and followed Cinder back to the campsite. She entered a tent with an interior designed like that of a place to dine in and searched through a sack, pulling out a loaf of bread. Drool leaked from the corners of (y/n)’s mouth when he set his sights on the golden loaf. Cinder sat down on a chair, “Beg for it~.”

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me. Beg, on your knees too.”

“You’ve gotta be kidding me.”

“You don’t want this then?”

(y/n) seriously wanted nothing more then to rip this woman’s head off and feed it to the Grimm, but his hunger was driving him crazy and he could not take it anymore. Sucking up his pride, he knelt down in front of Cinder with both knees and said in a flat tone, “Give that to me.”

“Ah-ah-ah, you’re supposed to look at me and say it politely. And I know you can do better than that ridiculous monotone.”

(y/n) gritted his teeth together to keep from any curses sprouting out. He slowly lifted his head, doing his best to suppress the glare he wanted to give her and tried again, “Please let me have that,” the words left a taste so bitter in his mouth that he was sure it would mess up how the bread will taste once he ate it.

“Hm, good enough I guess,” Cinder tossed the bread at him and he impatiently caught it, cramming it into his mouth. As he ate, Cinder watched his ears twitch lightly from his content mood, even as evil as she is, she was still a female with the adoration for cute things. After (y/n) had inhaled his bread, she called out to him, “(y/n).”

“What?” he asked, licking the crumbs off his face and hands. She patted her lap, “Come, place your head here.”

“Huh? Why?”

“Don’t question it, obey.”

Her eyes glowed as a warning and (y/n) reluctantly crawled to her and awkwardly laid his head on her lap. He felt her fingers run through his scruffy hair before lingering on his fuzzy ears. (y/n) flinched from the contact on his delicate wolf ears, but stayed as still as he could. She actually let out a girly giggle when his ears jolted from her touch, “Wow, never thought that someone like you could act like a girl,” he meant to mumble to himself, but Cinder caught on to it and gave one of his ears a hard yank.

“Ow!!”

“Watch your tongue, unless you wish to loose it~.”

“Tch, sorry.”

“That’s better. Here, a reward,” Cinder kissed the ear she pulled on, making (y/n)’s cheeks become slightly pink, “Whatever.”

Cinder continues to play with (y/n)’s ears for five minutes straight.

“Well, I think that’s enough for now. It was almost therapeutic,” she said, giving (y/n)’s ears one last stroke before standing up.

“Glad you enjoyed yourself,” (y/n) said sarcastically, rubbing his aching ears.

“Anyway, you’re done here. Be on your way,” as she said this, she tossed a tied stack of bills towards (y/n), to which he caught with reflexes.

“Huh? You’re just letting me go?”

“Not exactly. I’m setting you loose is more precise. I’ll always be with you wherever you go. And I’ll warn you one last time, speak of this to anyone, I will know and not hesitate to send you to the next life.”

“Yeah yeah yeah, whatever lady.”

“It’s Cinder.”

“I’ll call you what I want.”

“You’re just asking to be punished, aren’t you?”

“Geez fine . . . .  Cinder.”

“Much better.”

She strode over to him, stroking his cheek, “Take care of yourself wolfy~.”

“You’re just asking to be bitten.”

“I know you wont, you value your life after all.”

“Hmph.”

With that, (y/n) darted from the White Fang camp, leaving Cinder looking forward to their next encounter.

“Oh?”

“What is it Cinder?” Emerald asked. Currently the two along with Mercury were lounging in a warehouse they were using to store the Dust they were stealing. Cinder had stopped for a moment to see how (y/n) was doing and she had caught sight of something noteworthy. She opened her eyes as she answered, “It seems like our little puppy was accepted into school. Beacon to be exact.”

“Eh? Seriously?” Mercury said.

“Interesting. Perhaps it was worth making him my slave after all. I have so many plans for our dear little friend.”

~0~

Ozpin nodded at (y/n) who had accepted to go to his school.

“Glad to hear your decision Mr. (l/n). I’ll handle your paperwork; tonight you’ll sleep in the hotel I’ve prepared for you. You’ll leave for school tomorrow.”

“Fine.”

(y/n) stood up from the chair and turned to leave the little room he was taken to after the police got him.

“By the way, what’s that strange mark you have around your neck?”

(y/n) froze, knowing the doom he would face should he tell the headmaster that had happened to him a long while ago. Doing his best to keep his composure, (y/n) answered, “It’s . . . . A tattoo.”

“Really? That’s a pretty impressive one if I do say so myself. Any reason why you go it around your neck like that?”

“. . . . . Personal reasons.”

“I see, then I wont pry any further.” (y/n) sighed mentally, hoping that Ozpin truthfully bought his story.

The announcement of the Vital Festival had everyone’s blood pumping in excitement for the upcoming event. However, (y/n) was far from thrilled. He knew that Cinder could see and hear everything he was witnessing if she tuned into his mind. Even if it was against his will, he felt sick to his stomach knowing that he was secretly working for the enemy.

Everyone went their separate ways after class one day. (y/n) told his team that he was not feeling well and headed to his dorm while the rest of his team went to the library to study for the test fast approaching. As he walked down the dormitory halls, he saw a door fling open and a girl by the name of Ruby run down the halls shouting something around the lines of “I left my board game in the library!!” But both he and she didn’t notice the tan figure in her way until she collided with it.

“Oh! Sorry!” she quickly apologized from the floor.

“It’s ok, I’m fine,” the girl held out her hand to help Ruby up. (y/n) then looked past her and the silver haired boy she was with to see a face he hadn’t seen in a very long time.

“C-Cinder?” he whispered to himself. Her hair was longer and she was wearing a Haven uniform; but that was without a doubt the woman who placed him under her control. He tried to quietly walk away unnoticed, but the woman caught sight of him before he could get away.

“Oh (y/n)! Is that you?” she sauntered over to him, a smile on her face that clearly told him “play along or you’ll die”. He turned around and did his best to hide his discomfort, “H-hey Cinder.”

“Wait, you two know each other?” Ruby asked.

“Why of course~,” Cinder wrapped both of her arms around one of (y/n)’s, “We’re together.”

(y/n)’s ears stood straight up from shock, “E-Eh!?”

“Oooohhh. You never told me you had that kind of relationship with someone!”

“And why would I tell you that?”

“Cause we’re friends!”

“Since when?”

“Since . . . . . . Since . . . . . oh . . .” Ruby trailed off when she realized that she didn’t have proof that she and (y/n)were buddy enough to share personal information. She sheepishly rubbed the back of her head, “Opps.”
(y/n) rolled his eyes, “Anyway, I need to get going.”

“Oh but darling~,” Cinder started, gripping his arm harder, “Why don’t you join me and my teammates? We have so much to catch up on.”

“Uhhh . . .” Cinder’s eyes glowed as a warning and (y/n) quickly agreed to her invitation.

“Well, we’ll be off then.” Cinder and her team walked off with (y/n) in tow.

“It was nice meeting you! And welcome to Beacon!” Ruby called out behind them.

~0~

“Argh!!”

“You really need to learn your place.”

(y/n) writhed on the floor of Cinder’s dorm as the mark around his neck strangled him. Cinder’s teammates, Emerald and Mercury, watched with slight amusement on their faces. After a while the torture finally ended and (y/n) was left gasping for air. Cinder got down on two knees before him and lifted his chin with her hand, “Now then, have you heard anything interesting lately?”

“Shouldn’t you already know what’s going on by now?” he asked between breaths.

“I can’t always be looking and hearing through your eyes and ears 24/7.”

(y/n) honestly wanted to tell her to “fuck off”, but he knew what was waiting for him if he did so, “Nothing much, just about the Vital Festival and a dance that’s supposed to be happening in about a month.”

“A dance huh? In interesting~,” Cinder let go of (y/n)’s face and petted his ears, “Good boy~.” (y/n) silently let out a growl, humiliated that two individuals were witnessing this. Cinder stood up to her feet, “We can use this easily. Very well. You’re dismissed.”

“No need to tell me twice,” (y/n) mumbled, he opened the door and briskly walked out of the room.

“Are you sure it’s a good idea to keep him around?” Emerald asked doubtfully.

“Trust me, it’s the best idea~,” Cinder mused.

~0~

It was the day before the dance and everyone was eager for a good time tomorrow night. (y/n) had no plan in joining the festivities though, which was until Cinder encountered him in the dining hall.

He and his team were just finishing breakfast when she approached him, “Good morning (y/n)~,” she said in a sickly, sweet tone. He suppressed a groan as he greeted her back, “M-morning Cinder.”

“So I heard a dance is to be held tomorrow, sound like fun, don’t you think?”

“U-uh, sure, sounds good.”

“Great! I’ll see you there then!” With that she walked away.
“Whoa (y/n), you got asked out by someone like her!?” Neo, the only human in his team, exclaimed teasingly.

“Apparently,” (y/n) mumbled.

“But I thought you said you didn’t wanna go to the dance,” Luke, a dog Faunus, stated.

“Uhhhh . . . I’m just going for her sake is all.”

“Well this is certainly news, but nice since we can look forward to spending time together tomorrow night,” Lily, a tiger Faunus, said with her white tiger tail waving excitedly.

“Yeah I guess.”

“Well then, guess you and join Lily, Luke and I after classes. We’re going into town to pick out something to wear for the dance!” Neo said.

“Thanks but no thanks, I’ll just wear my school uniform or something.”

“Oh no you don’t!” Lily bellowed, “You gotta look good for your little lady friend~. So you’re coming whether you like it or not!”
Luke gave (y/n) a look of pity, “You’re not alone on this, they’re dragging me too.”

“Ugh, guess I have no choice.”

“This is gonna be so much fun!” Lily jeered while Neo agreed with her. The boys rolled their eyes, knowing it was gonna be a long day.

~0~

Half and hour passed and the girls were still trying to find the right dress for the dance. The guys waited as patiently as they could manage, their suites in their hands ready to be bought.
“Why the hell does it take girls forever to pick one measly dress?” (y/n) asked aggravated.

“Who knows?” Luke said back, fiddling with a game on his scroll. (y/n) was just about to pull out his own scroll to pass the time when someone tapped him on the shoulder.

“Hm?” He turned his head and was startled to see Cinder there.

“Well, fancy running into you here (y/n).”

‘Yeah right, you knew I’d be here thanks to your crazy magic.’

“Yeah, right.”

“Mind if I have a minute? As my date, I wish to ask your opinion on a dress~.”

“Uh, sure.” After quickly telling Luke where he’d be, (y/n) followed Cinder to the gown section of the boutique.

“So what do you want?” (y/n) asked silently as Cinder nonchalantly browsed through the dresses.

“There’s something that needs to be done tomorrow night and your assistance is required.”

“And what exactly would that be?”

“There’s a building I’m going to need you to infiltrate. With your Semblance it should be a walk in the park.”

“Hm, fine. Which building and when?”

Cinder has a pleased smile on her face, “Nicely said.” After she told (y/n) what he needed to know, Cinder bid him farewell. (y/n) returned to his teammate who asked, “Hey did your date by a dress? I didn’t see her go to the counter.”

“Nah, nothing moved her.”

Luke left it at that, to which (y/n) was thankful for.

~0~

“Oh! I can’t wait!” the girls gushed as they got ready for the dance in their dorms.

“Sure,” (y/n) muttered as he straightened out his bowtie. After everyone was ready and heading out, (y/n) turned the other way.

“(y/n)? Where are you going?” Lily asked when she noted her team leader going in a different direction.

“Cinder wanted me to pick her up at her dorm,” (y/n) lied smoothly.

“Oh ok, we’ll see you there then!”

After giving his team a half-hearted wave, (y/n) headed to Cinder’s room, knocking when he got there, “Cinder, it’s me.”

“Do come in~,” her silky voice beckoned. (y/n) entered and did a double take upon seeing Cinder’s tight, black dress. Feeling his stare, Cinder leered, “Like what you see?” she purred.

(y/n) hastily looked away, “A-as if!” he denied, despite his face betraying him by turning red.

“Heh heh, you’re so cute when you’re in denial.”

“Shut up,” (y/n) huffed.

“Anyway, here,” she handed him her scroll, “You remember what to do, correct?”

“How can I not when you’ve beaten it into my head,” (y/n) said pocketing her scroll.

“Good, I’ll be around, but hidden just in case,” she then held out a small ear piece, “We’ll be using this to communicate, I’ll alert you is something runs amiss.”

“Yeah sure.” (y/n) put on the earpiece and quickly testes it. Afterwards Cinder straightened his bowtie, much to his surprise.

“Have I ever told you that you look simply dashing in a tux?”

“You did now.”

“Heh. Ok, you’d better get going, I expect for this to be done by midnight. And remember, failure isn’t an option.”

“Geez, I got it.”

“Good. Now off you go. After all, there’s a ball that we have to attend when this is done.”

(y/n) nodded in response.

Ironwood trudged thought the school grounds, heading towards Beacon Tower. Upon arriving at the entrance, the solider placed there to be the guard stood at attention and saluted his superior, “Good evening General Ironwood sir!” he greet formally, “Weren’t you just at the school dance? You said it’s be a nice change of pace.”

“I think I had enough fun for one night. There’s something that needs to get done here as soon as possible.”

“Understood sir. Have a good evening sir!” Ironwood nodded and entered the building, where all the soldiers greeted him in the same manner. After getting on an elevator he entered a room filled with computers. Sitting at a random one, he pulled out a scroll and connected it to the PC, in an instant, a picture of a chess piece representing the queen appeared on the screen and popped up on all the other screens of the monitors.

“(y/n), you’re got trouble headed your way,” Emerald’s voice warned in the earpiece he wore. (y/n) sighed and shifted back to himself, “What’s up?”

“Ironwood’s leaving.”

“Guess the General’s had enough for tonight,” Mercury stated.

“(y/n), do they need to intervene?” Cinder asked. Turing back to the screen, (y/n) saw that the download of the virus was complete, “There’s no need. I’m done here. I’ll find a different way out of here and be back at the party soon.”

“Do hurry (y/n)~> I’m waiting for my dance.”

“Sure you are,” (y/n) said, rolling his eyes. After disconnecting the scroll, (y/n) began to look for a different way out, that was until he heard the elevator ding, signaling that someone was coming. He hurriedly changed his appearance to that of a White Fang member before the doors opened, revealing a very stunned Ironwood.

“What are the likes of you doing here!?” he demanded. (y/n) merely smirked and shifted into Ozpin to throw Ironwood for a loop in order to scramble his mind.

“Whatever do you mean? This is my school after all~.”

Ironwood drew his pistol and pointed it right at the fake, “Don’t play these games with me! Surrender now and I might go easy on you.”

“How about . . . . . no!” (y/n) chucked a highly explosion dust crystal right at the general. Acting out on reflexes, Ironwood took a shot and a big explosion shook the entire building. In the midst of the fire and smoke, (y/n) escaped though a back exit while Ironwood was knocked off his feet, never to know who was behind the disguises.

(y/n) ran up to the doors of the dance hall, where Cinder was waiting. She smiled upon seeing him, “Glad you could make it.”

“Tonight was a little more exciting then expected, but,” he pulled out her scroll and handed it to her, “The job’s done.”

“Perfect,” Cinder pocketed her school, “now then, shall we?” she looped her arm around (y/n)’s right one.

“Sure.”

“Come now dear, have some fun,” she used her free hand to stroke his neck, “After all, it is a party my precious doggy~.”

“I’m a wolf,” (y/n) corrected for the thousandth time.

“Same difference.”

At the stroke of twelve, the master and servant duo entered the ballroom, ready to have a relaxing night to celebrate the success of this mission. There on the dance floor they swayed to the slow song playing.

“This is nice,” Cinder admitted.

“And yet you’re playing out schemes that could destroy this peace,” (y/n) commented in a hush whisper.

“I have my own reason for my actions,” (y/n) sent Cinder into a little twirl, “Besides,” she added when she spun back to him, “You’re not exactly ‘not involved’ in this either.”

(y/n) gave her a defiant stare, “It’s not like I wanted any part of this madness, you practically roped me into it.”

“While you may have a point, you can still refuse my orders or tell someone about our plans.”

“And risk getting strangled by you weird magic? I’d rather not have ‘died by crazy lady’s magic’ written on my tombstone.”

Cinder giggled, catching (y/n) off guard.

“My my (y/n), I never took you for one who’d make jokes.”

“That wasn’t a joke. If I die, I want it to be on my own terms, not by someone else’s.”

“Interesting. Even bound by this,” she gave his neck a small poke, “You still wish to control your own fate.”

“Of course.”

Cinder giggled again, “You say the most amusing things.”

“Uhh . . . thanks?”

“Hmm~.” Cinder gave (y/n) the surprise of his life when she laid her head against his chest, still swaying to the music.

“O-oi!”

“I can hear it. Your racing heart,” she glanced up at him with the corner of her eyes, “You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?”

(y/n) looked away, “How the hell would I enjoy dancing with the woman who can kill me at any time?”

“There’s no need to be shy~.”

(y/n) scoffed but said nothing else, just continues to dance with Cinder through the night, secretly enjoying this moment of peace while it lasted.

~0~

While Cinder proclaimed that the failed mission of leading Grimm into the city of Vale to cause a massacre was still a success, she was still furious over how it was executed too early and when everything had settled and everyone went back to their quarters to rest after saving the city, she let all her anger out in her room after calling (y/n) over. She picked up a book and flung it against the wall, “Damn him! What was he thinking!?” she yelled out, referring to Roman who was responsible for the mission being carried out earlier then planned.

(y/n) sat un-amused on her bed, “So you called me here to watch you throw a tantrum?” he asked sarcastically.

“No,” Cinder hissed through her clenched teeth, “You’re here to help me distress.”

With her heels clicking loudly as she walked over to (y/n), Cinder grabbed his shirt and forced him off the bed, sitting behind him.

“Ouch!” (y/n) yelped as he fell to his knees, “Hey! There was no need for tha-ow!!”

“Silence.” Cinder grabbed at his ear roughly, showing them no mercy as she stroke them, hoping it would calm her rage. Although this time the softness of (y/n)’s wolf ears did close to nothing to soothe the flame burning in her.

“Tch, this isn’t working.” Cinder release (y/n)’s ears, must to his relief, and thought for a minute. Then an idea hit her, and while (y/n) was in the middle of nursing his aching ears, she surprised him yet again by grabbed the back of his shirt and flinging him to the bed.

“Hey! What are you-!?”

Cinder pounce on him, straddling his hips and holding him down by his shoulders, “Shut up unless you wish to die,” her eyes glowed as a warning. After effectively shutting (y/n) up, Cinder smashed her lips against his, kissing him hungrily. A muffled gasp escaped (y/n) as Cinder moved her hands to his face, cradling it with gentleness he didn’t know this woman could possess. Cinder slipped her tongue past his unsuspecting lips and toyed with his own, forcing it to a dance with hers. (y/n) wanted nothing more than to shove this woman off of him and make a run for it, but seeing as his life was in her hands, he just stayed put and let her pent out her frustration.

After what seemed like forever, Cinder pulled away, blushing in the face and panting. (y/n)’s eyes slightly widened, having never seen her hold such a look before.

“Now you do me.”

(y/n)’s ears stood straight up at her wording, “Excuse me?!”

“Oh you know what I mean. I’m giving you the chance to release all your aggression. After all, what kind of master would I be if I didn’t do something for you once in a while?”

Cinder was not expecting to be flipped over so suddenly with her arms pinned next to her head and hips straddled. If looks could kill, the glare (y/n) directed at her would’ve done so a million time and then some.

“I have no master,” he growled out before kissing her roughly. Cinder responded and when (y/n) freed her wrists to weave a hand through her hair, she moved hers to his back, tracing the muscles she found through his shirt.

They continued this hot make-out session until the need for oxygen forced them apart. Cinder was the first to catch her breath, “Well, I actually enjoyed that more then I thought~. Being the submissive one is a nice change.”

“Does this mean you’ll take this collar off of me?”

“Hardly~. But perhaps I should let you take control every now and then.”

“Whatever.” (y/n) got himself upright and sat on the edge of the bed, Cinder sat up and hugged him from behind, laying her head on his shoulder almost affectionately.

“What’s with you today? Did the screwed up plan really mess you up that much in the head?”

“You forget that I’m human, I too have my off days. But once I get the rest of the Autumn Maiden’s powers, I’ll be unstoppable and rule this world alongside my own master.”

(y/n) sighed, “Cinder, there’s more to life then just having power and control.”

“Trust me, I know. But I have no interest in such things,” Cinder cupped his cheek and turned his head towards her face, giving him a small, sweet kiss, “Although this might not be so bad~.” Cinder continues to pepper butterfly kisses on (y/n)’s face and he sat still even when her lips traced his neck, biting his lips when a moan threatened to come out when she kissed a sensitive spot, making a point to Cinder that he was still being defiant despite their little session from earlier. After Cinder was done, she gave (y/n) a pat on the back, “I have to say, you’ve gotten more obedient lately.”

“Don’t let it get to your head. I’m just making sure you don’t send me six feet under.”

“You always say the most comical things. Good job today, I feel completely relaxed.”

“Glad to hear it,” (y/n) said cynically. Cinder’s fingers glided around his chest as she said; “There’s no room for failure in our next set of plans, keep that in mind when you’re sent on your tasks.”

“Yeah yeah,” (y/n) stood up, “Well then, now that my job is done, I’m outta here.”

“Go on then,” Cinder got off the bed and gave (y/n) a peck on the cheek, “I look forward to our next alone-time~.”

“At least one of us does,” (y/n) uttered, leaving the room and Cinder with her thoughts focused on what had happened on her bad that led to her smiling to herself.

(y/n)’s team made easy work of their opponents during the Vytal Festival Tournament. After being claimed victorious and consulting with his team, it was decided that he and Neo, the only human in his team, would fight in the second round.
He roamed the fair grounds that day, not really planning on doing anything, which was until the bane of his existence decided to show up.

“(y/n)~ Good to see you~,” Cinder cooed.

“Pleasure,” (y/n) said scornfully, “And what do you want this time? To cause trouble somewhere with my semblance?”

“Actually,” she wrapped her arms around his own, “I was thinking perhaps we could enjoy a date.”

“. . . . .  Did you hit your head or something? Or did you really ask me out?”

“Come now, it’s a festival, let’s have some fun.”

“Well, it’s nice to kick back I guess, although I never figured for you to try and have fun at a festival.”

“I have my moments.”

(y/n) and Cinder walked into the game booths without any plans on playing any, that was until the man running the balloon popping stand called out to him, “Hey! Young wolf with the pretty girl!” (y/n) stopped out of reflex and looked at the person, “How’d you like to win something for your lovely girlfriend?”

“Uhhh . . . I don’t-.”

“I have a special deal for the Beacon students! First play is free!”

“Umm, I really don’t-.”

“Oh! (y/n), I want that!” Cinder said, pointing to a grey, dog plush up on a shelf. He glared at her out of the corner of his eyes, but sighed in defeat as he nodded and was given five darts. (y/n) expertly threw them towards the wall of pinned up balloons, effortlessly popping five balloons.

“We have a winner!” the game booth man announced loudly before taking the stuffed dog down and handing it to (y/n), “Enjoy!” (y/n) took it and shoved it into Cinder’s hands, “There’s your damn puppy,” he softly growled. Despite his foul attitude, Cinder hugged it closely to her chest, “I know exactly what I’m going to name him.”

“Don’t wanna know, but I have a feeling I’m gonna find out anyway.”

“(y/n) Jr.”

(y/n) lets out an annoyed groan and walked ahead with Cinder trailing behind him, still cuddling with the stuffed toy. The rest of the day continued with the two playing some more games, going to the food courts to eat, and wandering around some more. (y/n) did not want to admit it, but he truly enjoyed with Cinder, spending this time with her showed the humane side of her. Nighttime was almost upon them as they sat on a bench, “Hey Cinder, it’s getting late, we should head back to our dorms.”

Cinder didn’t answer him

“Cinder?” (y/n) looked and was flabbergasted upon seeing Cinder leaning back on the bench, snoozing. Her mouth slightly open as she breathed in and out slowly, her head hanging a bit and in her arms her continued to hold (y/n) Jr. (y/n) rolled his eyes, “Guess I have no choice.” Careful to not wake her, (y/n) gently picked her up in his arms bridal style and began to walk towards the dorms. On the way there (y/n) blushed like a thousand suns when Cinder’s head leaned against his chest and she cuddled up against him while she slept.

Fishing her scroll out of her dress pocket (y/n) opened her dorm door and walked in. He put her into bed, tucking her in nicely with her blanket and her new stuffed dog.

“Man, when she’s sleeping like this, she’s almost looks vulnerable,” (y/n) said to himself. Looking down at her face, he swept some of her bangs out of her face with a tender motion, “Heh.” Before he knew it, he leaned in and kissed her cheek, “Night princess,” he said half-sarcastically. After leaving the room, Cinder opened her eyes with her cheeks burning. She had woken when (y/n) picked her up, but she didn’t understand why she didn’t make it known to him that she was awake.

Maybe she enjoyed the feeling of being in his arms?

She wasn’t sure.

Although one thing she was sure of was the fact that her heart was racing to a new emotion she was unfamiliar with.

(y/n) could not help but to notice that Cinder seemed to be acting less cruel to him over the next few days. Sure, she still ordered him around, but when he was a step out of line, she only glared at him and threatened him instead of actually chocking the life out of him. It wasn’t that he didn’t like it, but it was a bit unsettling to see Cinder so docile like this as opposed to how she used to act. He had asked her about it, but she simple told him to worry about himself.

It was finally nearing the end of the Vytal Festival Tournament. (y/n) stood in the spotlight with the other challengers as the first pair for the one-on-one match was about to begin. Usually one’s heart would be working in overdrive upon seeing the pictures up on the monitors spinning to decide who would fight, but (y/n) was far from tense, he knew that this was all rigged. Instead of looking at the screen, he focused on Cinder, her usual smirk never leaving her face. He knew that look, it meant shit was really gonna go down.

After the first two fighters were chosen, (y/n) and the other finalists left the fighting arena for the first match to begin, him joining his teammates.

He watched the fight go down, appearing to leave Yang as the victor, but then suddenly, for no apparent reason, she turned around to Mercury who looked to be offering his hand for a handshake for the fun match and blasted a shot to his leg, making him fall to the ground, clutching his apparent broken leg. Medics carried him off as soldiers arrested Yang, and while (y/n)’s team gasped in shock, he knew who orchestrated this seemingly vile scene.

~0~

After Mercury was dropped off at a hidden place, Cinder met up with (y/n) and walked through Vale with him, her arm linked to his as they strolled through the streets, looking like one, happy couple despite the uproar over Yang’s attack on “innocent” Mercury and the sightings of Grimm nearing the city.

“Perfect~. And to think this is just the beginning,” Cinder said quietly as they passed an appliance store with tvs on display showing the news.

“I said it once, and I’ll say it again: this will come back to bite you in the throat.”

“Oh please, spare me your opinions. This next step will secure our goal for sure.”

“You mean your goal.”

“It’s ours now that we’re together.”

“Together?”

“You honestly expected for me to release you anytime soon? Far from it darling. I’ve decided that having you around might not be so bad. And besides, where are you going to go when the school falls? Better for you to come and stay with me, don’t you think?”

(y/n) sighed, “I really hate to admit it, but you do have some logic behind that.”

“Then it’s settled,” Cinder nuzzled her head against his arm like a cat, “Welcome to my team (y/n)~.”

“Yeah yeah whatever. Just know that I don’t love you.”

“Oh but I love you.”

“Yeah right, whatever. So what now?”

“Just do what you want for the time being. I need to oversee our next step. I’ll call you when it’s time to regroup with the others.”

“Fine.”

Cinder got up on her toes and pecked (y/n) on the lips while stroking his cheek, “The epic finale is coming, look forward to it~.”

“Riiiiight.”

~0~

(y/n) could not believe his eyes. Grimm of all shapes and sizes terrorized the city of Vale in great numbers. He stood on a tall building with Cinder, Mercury, and Emerald, watching the scene unfold.

“Unbelievable,” he muttered.

“Horrendous isn’t it?”

He could only nod in response. Cinder stared odd into the distance, and something seemed to have caught her eye, “(y/n), come with me, it’s time I got what I came here for.”

“Uhh, yeah ok.”

~0~

(y/n) waited anxiously around the Tower of Beason. Cinder had told him to wait outside for her. With his sharp ears, he could hear something going on inside the building, but he knew better then to go against Cinder’s orders and investigate, lest it would be the last thing he did. Looking up at the top of the tower, he saw huge scraps of metal being thrown about. He was not sure what caused it, but he actually began to worry about Cinder. Making a last minute decision, he shifted his image to a person he has seen around Beason by the name of Jaune, and he poured into his feet, giving himself a burst of speed to run up the side of the tower just in time to see Pyrrha slamming huge cogwheels right on Cinder. Pyrrha held them in place with her semblance, that was until her eyes swept over (y/n) and they widened, “-Jaune!?” she exclaimed. With her shock, the power of her semblance faltered a bit, giving Cinder the advantage she needed to free herself from her metal trap. Pyrrha was knocked off her feet from the blast, and even though she was fighting Cinder, her eyes never left (y/n) who was disguised as Jaune. She began to call out his name, but instead cried out in pain when she took an arrow from Cinder right in her Achilles tendon. Now that her opponent was crippled, Cinder focused on the unexpected arrival and held her bow at the ready, “What are the likes of you doing here!?” she demanded.

(y/n) rolled his eyes, “Unlike someone I know, I’d rather stay incognito,” he stated. It was a different image and voice, but Cinder knew that tone and the way he held himself against her. She lowered her bow, “What are you doing here? I ordered you to wait down below.”

Things were looking a little wild up here, just though I could provide backup if you needed it.”

The bow in Cinder’s hands disintegrated and she walked up to him, stroking his cheek, “Aww, were you worried about me~?”

“Shut up, it’s nothing like that.”

“I’m taking that as a ‘yes’.”
“Do what you want.”

(y/n) watched as Cinder gave Pyrrha a little pep talk before summoning her bow and firing an arrow straight to her chest. (y/n) flinched at the sound of the arrow piercing flesh, sure he didn’t know Pyrrha all that well, but she had at least sent him a smile and a kind word whenever they ran into each other. However, he knew well to keep his mouth shut and feelings to himself as he watched Pyrrha fade into nothingness, the only proof of her ever existing was her headpiece that laid on the ground. Suddenly a familiar voice rang out into the night crying, “PYRRHA!” and before (y/n) could comprehend what was happening, an ultra-bright light blinded his eyes, yet his ears were able to pick up Cinder screaming in pain.

“Cinder!?” he surprised himself from the fact and way he yelled out her name. Following his ears, he found her crumpled on the ground and covering her face for some reason. Scooping her up in his arms, (y/n) leaped off the tower, bouncing off Grimm that flew by to help lighten his landing. Even once they were on the ground, (y/n) did not stop there, he ran off into the city, looking for a secluded place to hide. Upon finding an abandoned factory, (y/n) shifted back to his original form and looked down at Cinder, who was still shielding her face with her hands.

“H-hey Cinder, what’s wrong?”

She slowly revealed her face, that’s when (y/n) saw had happened: the left side of Cinder’s face was gravely wounded; it even enveloped her eye, enabling her to see through it.

“Holy Oum.” (y/n) placed her down on a crate, removed his jacket, and ripped up his shirt, pressing the cloth against her wound to stop the bleeding and used long pieced as a bandage. Cinder gladly accepted his help, hissing in pain as he did his best to dress her injury. He secured his makeshift bandage with a knot and then faced her, “Cinder, what the heck happened up there? One minute you’re fine, the next you’re screaming bloody murder.”

She opened her mouth to speak, but only empty air came out. She tried again, still nothing.

“Cinder . . . . . can’t you say anything?”

For the first time, (y/n) saw fear and panic paint Cinder’s features. She looked up at (y/n) almost desperately through her only eye, as if telling him that she feared what the future held for her now that she was this way. (y/n) was utterly dumbfounded, whatever happened on top of that tower had not only critically damaged Cinder, but it seemed to have taken her voice as well. Not knowing what else to do, he reached out and pulled Cinder to his chest, hugging her gently. Cinder managed to let out a small, surprised gasp from this unexpected action from (y/n).

“Hey, it’s gonna be ok. I’m here,” was all he could think of to say in this situation. Although it appeared to be enough for Cinder, she clung to the fabric of his jacket as if it was her lifeline and a noise resembling a sob escaped her. (y/n) knew that he was being stupid in this situation, he could easily make Cinder release him from the binding magic she’d cast on him, but his good nature overruled his reason and instead decided to try and comfort her.

After a while, Cinder’s breathing stabilized somewhat and she was no longer making any crying noises. (y/n) slowly loosened his hold on her, but kept his arms around herm “So what now?” he asked. She handed him her scroll and pointed to the two other contacts she had besides him.

“Right, ok.” (y/n) pressed Emerald’s and set it on speaker so Cinder could hear.

“Cinder where are you!? What happened!? What was that light!?” Emerald’s voice shouted in concern.

“Sorry, but Cinder can’t exactly tell you at the moment.”

“Huh? (y/n)? What are you doing with Cinder’s scroll!?” Emerald demanded.

“Look, it’s a very long story that we don’t have time for. Cinder is hurt and we need to get away from here if she’s gonna get the medical attention she needs.”

“O-ok, so what do we do?”

(y/n) looked to Cinder, she pointed to the scroll then to the floor, “Just met up where we are, use your scroll to track Cinder’s. We’re in an abandoned factory of sorts.”

“Ok, we’ll there soon,” with the Emerald hung up. After (y/n) returned Cinder her scroll, the two stood silent for a while, that was until (y/n) spoke up, “Listen Cinder, whether you like it or not, we’re getting you medical help first before anything else. I’d hate for this to get an infection,” he very lightly stroked the cloth on her face, “So once the other two join us, we’re taking a ship out of here, it’s no good for us to stick around. After all, a couple of people saw you, and you don’t have shapshifting abilities like I do.”

He waited for her to cast his punishment for ordering her around or at least give him a menacing glare, bit all (y/n( got was a silent nod.

This settled it all.

Whatever happened to Cinder up on Beacon Tower really messed her up big time. Emerald and Mercury shower up soon and (y/n) gave them a quick rundown of what happened. Both were shocked when (y/n) finished speaking, “So what now? Mercury asked. (y/n) looked again at Cinder and she responded with a movement of her hand as if to day : you tell them.”

“ok, first thing’s first, we need to get Cinder to a doctor. There are airships evacuating people out of Vale, so that’s our ticket out of here. You two need to get on inconspicuously, after your little stunt during the tournament, everyone things you’re back in Haven.”

“We can handle that,” Emerald ensured.

“Good, I’ll get on board with Cinder, then when we reach our destination, we’ll get off separately and meet up later so we don’t draw attention to ourselves,” (y/n) then asked Cinder, “That sound good?”

Cinder nodded.

Mercury and Emerald went ahead, now alone again, (y/n) then removed his jacket and put it on Cinder, pulling the hood over her head, “We’re not sure if anyone else saw you, I’d rather be safe then sorry.”

Being taller and bulkier then Cinder, (y/n)’s jacket was more of a cloak on her, but that’s what made it work.

“Come on, we’d better get going.”

(y/n) once again lifted Cinder into his arms. A blush could be seen on her cheeks now that she was being pressed up against (y/n)’s bare chest. Just as he was about to leave the abandoned building, he heard Cinder try to say something.

“Hm?”

He gazed down at her and strained his ears to hear her better.

“. . . . . . . Thank . . . . . . you . . . .” she forced out. That alone must’ve taken a ton of effort, for she laid her head against (y/n)’s chest and closed her eyes.

“Heh, anytime princess.”

~0~

The four managed to get on and off the airship without any problems. No one really bothered (y/n) and Cinder after catching a glimpse of her injury, believing that she’s been attacked and traumatized by a Grimm.

Soon after they landed, (y/n) took her to a hospital where she got treatment to her face.

“I’m sorry to say that injury will leave a nasty scar,” the doctor informed (y/n) after he took care of Cinder’s injury, “And there was no hope of saving her eye either, so we had to remove it. Poor dear, she’s so lovely too.”

“I see. Well thanks anyway doc, you did the best you could.”

“Glad to be of help.”

After waiting for Emerald and Mercury to join them, the team left the hospital.

Several months later, after traveling for a while, Cinder wrote out on some paper that they had to get back to a person by the name of Salem. After she used her magic to open a portal, the four ended up in a place that (y/n) could only describe as “hell” from the ambiance it possessed and from the fact that Grimm were sprouting out form black pools in the ground.

They walked into some kind of tower and ended up in some kind of throne room, where a woman with pure white skin and hair and dangerous eyes was seated, that was until they entered, then she stood and curiously looked at the three figures she was unfamiliar with.

“Cinder,” she said in a voice that sounded sweet but held danger at the same time, “Who are these youths?”

With (y/n)’s help, Cinder explained what had happened and who they were.

“I see. While you’ve possessed the Maiden’s power, it seems you’ve taken quite a blow from this silver eyed girl,” the woman’s attention shifted to (y/n) and she noticed the mark around his neck, “So you’ve taken this one to be your servant. Interesting.” She walked up and stood in front of (y/n), her creepy eyes wandering over him as if sizing him up. To say he was scared would be an understatement, he was downright terrified of the woman before him, but he knew better than to show his fear and just kept a neutral face. A wicked smile stretched across her face, “Intriguing, to stand before me and not be afraid. You’ve acquired an fascinating servant Cinder,” she traced her fingers over (y/n)’s chin, “I almost wish to keep him for myself and have him serve me instead.”

Cinder showed that she wouldn’t allow that by latching on to (y/n)’s arm. Her mistress became aware of this and withdrew her hand, “In any case, come, it seems that I need to conduct my own treatment to you Cinder.”

They went into a room with a long table with chairs, there (y/n) watched Salem, which was the scary woman’s name, so something to Cinder that clearly caused her pain, but he kept his mouth shut and looked on with Emerald and Mercury.

Afterwards three other men joined the group around the table, and while they sat in the seats, the three kids stood around Cinder with (y/n) right next to her to be her voice. He didn’t really pay any attention to what they were talking about, that was until the man called “Watts” insulted Cinder over her failure.

“Hey! As far as I know, she did a hell of a job out there at Beacon!” (y/n) snapped.

“What’s this? An animal? You have a lot of nerve raising your voice against me boy!”

“I don’t care who you think you are, but try something like that again and you’ll have something in common with Cinder in a few seconds.”

The man with a long black braid, Tyrian, giggled out insanely, “Oh~. I like him~.”

“Enough,” Salem ordered, “(y/n), while Watts was wrong with his accusations, please refrain from lashing out like that, understand?”

(y/n) bowed his head, “Yes ma’am.”

~0~

After the meeting was adjourned, Cinder was sent to rest in her room while the others went out on their tasks. With (y/n)’s help, she told Emerald and Mercury to go to their own rooms while she want to hers with (y/n). While walking down the stairs, Cinder suddenly had a dizzy spell and tripped, one of her shoes falling from her feet as she descended down the flight of stairs. (y/n)’s fast reflexes kicked in and he caught her before her head made contact with the floor.

“Geez, in your current condition, I really think you should lay off the heels,” he said as he sat her on the last step. She merely gave him a little glare as he picked up her discarded shoe, gently took her foot, and slipped her heel back on.

“There, now let’s walk slowly to your-.” Cinder cut him off by throwing herself at him and kissing him passionately. Caught off guard, (y/n) fell backwards onto his behind, however he allowed Cinder to do as she wished, knowing that she was going through an especially hard time. After the need for oxygen forced Cinder to pull away, she looked deeply into (y/n)’s eyes with her only good one. He’d never seen her look so helpless and vulnerable; it honestly drove him to do what he could to protect her from any harm that could come to her. Sitting in his lap, Cinder forced her voice out to speak to him, “. . . . . Please . . . . don’t . . . . . . . leave . . .  me . .” (y/n)’s eyes widened at the begging tone she used, but then grinned and gave Cinder’s lips a peck of his own, “Now why would I do that? Attempting that would only get me killed, remember?” he pointed at the marking on his neck. Cinder cracked a smile and nodded.

(y/n) carried her to her room and laid her on the bed. He was just about to sit on the chair available until Cinder stopped him by grasping his hand and giving it a little tug, signaling for him to join her.

“Heh, still so demanding,” (y/n) said as he got into bed, lying in front of Cinder who instantly cozied up against his chest. He responded by embracing her, holding her even closer to him.

“ . . . I . . . . . love . . . you . . . .” he heard her utter before she slipped into the darkness called sleep.

“Hm,” (y/n) peered down at her sleeping face and kissed her forehead, “Yeah, I guess I love you too.”

For the first time in a long time, Cinder truly felt loved and protected, something she didn’t even feel with Salem, especially when a new emotion blossomed inside her that could only be described as love. Sure, the magical joy of having the Maiden’s power has long been faded, but now, a new magic has been cast, the magic of love. And she hoped that this spell wouldn’t be broken by midnight and last forever.
